Infusion Clinic.

Riverview Medical Practice offers a range of IV therapies which may be helpful for people wanting to improve their overall health and wellness, or are experiencing the effects of nutritional deficiencies, disease and viral illnesses.

By delivering vitamins directly into your bloodstream, much higher levels are achieved with more immediate effects than when taken orally. IV therapy is tailored to your specific needs and may have benefits in immune health, healing process, energy production, and liver detoxification.

Vitamins, minerals, amino acids and certain other nutrients can have an incredibly potent drug-like effect when given directly into a vein, but without the side effects of many prescription medications.

Conditions that may be assisted by intravenous and intramuscular nutrient therapy include:

Infusions Available

  • Vitamin C

One of the most important functions of vitamin C is the immune stimulation effect. You need vitamin C for the growth and repair of tissues in all parts of your body. It helps the body make collagen, an important protein used to make skin, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels. Vitamin C is needed for healing wounds, and for repairing and maintaining bones and teeth. Vitamin C may be helpful for trauma, inflammation, post-surgery recovery & reducing the side effects of chemotherapy.

  • B Vitamins

Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6 are required by the body for normal metabolic processes in your cells, including the production of energy. Deficiencies of one, some or all of these vitamins in your cells can have serious consequences for your health. B vitamins are important to the normal functioning of the nervous system and may be prescribed to treat Peripheral neuritis and Carpal tunnel syndrome, which result in nerve pain, usually in the arms or hands, legs or feet (the peripheral parts).

  • Glutathione

Glutathione (GSH) is an antioxidant often called ‘the master molecule’, and for good reason. This powerful antioxidant plays a role in many different systems in your body from immune support to anti-aging and more. Glutathione boosts the immune system and detoxifies the body especially when given with other vitamins. It has been observed to improve energy levels and be a very useful adjunct in supporting patients with Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson, Cardiovascular disease, Cancer & Alzheimer’s disease.

  • Methylcobalamin

Methylcobalamin (Methyl B12) is used to treat vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin B12 is important for the brain and nerves, and for the production of red blood cells. Methylcobalamin may be prescribed to help with the symptoms of anaemia if Vitamin B12 deficiency is the diagnosed cause, as well as the symptoms of peripheral neuropathies.

  • Zinc

Zinc is needed in small amounts every day in order to maintain health and perform important functions each day. Zinc benefits the body in many ways: helps with hormone production, growth and repair, improves immunity and facilitates digestion. Zinc benefits also include its ability to act as an anti-inflammatory agent, therefore zinc may have significant therapeutic benefits for several common illnesses.

  • Vitamin B Complex

Involves the B-Group vitamins (B1-Thiamine, B2 Riboflavin, B3-Nicotinamide, B5-Dexpanthenol, B6- Pyridoxine Hydrochloride and B12-Methylcobalamin). They play important roles in cell metabolism. These include production of new cells, formation of red blood cells, protecting the immune system, metabolism of fats and carbohydrates for energy, promoting healthy skin, production of sex and stress hormones (eg. Testosterone), regulation of mood and sleep patterns to name a few.

  • Alpha Lipoic Acid

Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is an antioxidant normally made by the body. It is found in the mitochondria of every cell, where it helps to generate energy. The role of antioxidants is to attack "free radicals," which are generated in the process of energy production. Free radicals cause harmful chemical reactions that can damage cells, making it harder for the body to fight off infections. Antioxidants in the body are used up as they attack free radicals. Evidence suggests alpha-lipoic acid may help regenerate these other antioxidants and make them active again. ALA is found to be very helpful in diabetics, dementia, cancer support and a host of other neurodegenerative diseases.

  • Iron

Iron is essential for the transport of oxygen from our lungs to the body tissues. Without enough iron, our body cannot produce enough haemoglobin in red blood cells that enables them to carry oxygen. As a result, iron deficiency anaemia may leave you with tiredness and shortness of breath.
